It is like walking into a fairy tale setting.
Reminiscing about our memorable experiences here at Lake Bled. Try some of these activities and come out with your own stories.
Ride the Pletna Boats to Bled Island
We ride the pletna boats, a tradition passed down in the family like the famous gondolas in Venice.
We meet and wait for the boat to fill up and we slowly row over to Bled Island.

Our ride over with the church growing larger in sight.
Visit the Church of Assumption of St. Mary
We purchase our entry fee.
We spend forty minutes following the path, seeing fish in the clear turquoise water, and the church where people can ring three times to make a wish in hopes that their wishes will come true.
There are also 99 steps up to the church and is said that if the groom can carry the bride up to the top of the stairs, they would be happily married until the end of life.
We buy a couple of magnets and meet back at the boat at the designated time the rower tells us to be back. We make our way back to the mainland.
The surrounding scenery walking around after our ride.
Relax at Park Hotel and Eat the Original Bled Cream Cake
For a quick break from the sun, we walk into the Park Hotel restaurant to try the original famous Lake Bled cream pastry that was first created at Park Hotel Restaurant since 1953.
It is custard and whip cream and phyllo dough with white powder sugar that was delicious and not overly sweet.
It is a nice place to rest and recharge in a pleasant restaurant atmosphere.
Explore Bled Castle
We drive to the castle on top of the hill. We pay to enter and learn about how books were printed.
We learn that the upper case and lower cases are regarded because of where the trays or cases were kept for easy access, due to the placement of the letters for printing.
We take photos of the beautiful view of Lake Bled and the island.
We see a reenactment of what it was like at the castle in the past and visit the museum.

A blacksmith apprentice tells us that he made all the iron statues he sells at the blacksmith shop.
Eat traditional Slovenian Fare
Gostilna Pri Planincu
Our lunch nearby Lake Bled is at Gostilna Pri Planincu and we order the traditional Slovenian sausages and potatoes.
They grow lots of potatoes and they are delicious! Sausage is flavorful and has a slight smoked flavor.
The ravioli filled with cottage cheese and mushroom sauce is also delicate and delicious.
After a visit to Lake Bled, I didn’t realize I could feel as calm as I did. What a special and serene place.
