Ljubljana offers no shortage of great food and vibrant dining spots—here are a few I’ve personally enjoyed.
Julija
Julija is a french rustic charming feeling restaurant. I ordered a delicious seabream with mashed potatoes and truffle sauce.
I paired it with a fresh-squeezed lemonade, great for a hot day.
My friend’s crispy salmon on a bed of vegetables.
Cacao
A popular place for quick frozen sweet desserts and drinks.
It has an indoor and outdoor patio where you can watch bikers, tourists, and dogs walk by.
I ordered the Orinico, which has chocolate, stracciatella vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. It sounds extremely decadent, but it is surprisingly not overly sweet.
A great place to recharge and take in the scenery with delicious treats.
Gostilna Sokol
The restaurant Gostilna Sokol has fun, traditional decor that makes one feel that they are definitely in another cultural country.
Many tourists like to come and dine here, but it is understandable why. It is close to the city center, and the food is reasonably priced and comes out quickly. The service is also friendly and swift.

Gujzina
The restaurant Gujzina is well known for its pumpkin seed oil and tried to get some dessert with something pumpkin.
We had a pleasant time, and the dessert was enjoyable.
Druga Violina
Druga Violina was recommended by our local guide who says she loves to frequent the restaurant with her friends for delicious and affordable Slovenian food.
We shared a vegetarian platter. It was unique, engaging, and delicious!
Marley and Me
We ate dinner at Marley and Me.
I had the asparagus, spinach, and mushroom ravioli.
My friend had the honey mustard salmon with potatoes.
TLoft
At TLoft, one can enjoy a casual Asian fusion cuisine that is affordable with bubble tea drinks.
Ramen soup bowl with Chasu and bubble tea.
The atmosphere is comfortable, hip, and new with Asian flair.
Bibimbap
Gostilna Ledinek
While it takes some work to hike up to, nestled at the top of Šmarna Gora, is this family-run restaurant serves the best ricet, a Slovenian sausage barley soup.
The sour milk with buckwheat dessert is also a unique and cultural find!
